Have you ever been told that you don’t deserve the love of God by others and perhaps you believe deep down in your heart you need to do more to be worthy of love from God? For me, being Christian and gay, I have been told in church that “God made Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve”, “The LGBT is going to destroy the family value”. A lesbian friend of mine was told, “If she believes she can be a Christian, that’s a devil’s lie”. I saw banners on the internet “God hates fags”. Plus, countless more other incidents. There were times when I was at church, I was told to be discrete about my sexuality. Hoping to convert my sexuality.

All these are just human’s opinions. Let me tell you that, God loves you no manner what you think you fall-short of or any kind of sin you have. When you believe in Christ, God sees you through Jesus, as a perfect child. If we feel that we are not worthy of love of God, it’s in a way we are denying what Jesus has done for us on the cross – he died for our sin! You are worthy.

Put aside all the opinions people have on you and look straight to Jesus. Just like Zacchaeus, the chief tax-collector at Jericho, he looked straight to Jesus. When you look out to Jesus, he notices you, he would come to you just like how he went to Zacchaeus, despite people around Zacchaeus were unhappy about Jesus decided to go to his house. Those unhappy people around Zacchaeus possibly made a lot of noise and the noise is just humans’ opinion. They don’t matter, all that matter is the presence of Jesus.

Our God is a loving God and God loves you.

When law was given by God, 3000 people died. When grace was given by God 3000 people were saved. All because of our high priest Jesus Christ, shedding his blood on the cross for us. now we can live in grace.

I believe you just want to be accepted just as you are. However, I have also been accepted in my previous church and my current care group with them knowing my sexuality. I have also been encouraged by many Christians reminding me that God loves me and it’s not their job to judge me but to love me. Wouldn’t that be a great environment that every one, you and I are free to be who they really are.

You are now no longer living in law (old testament) but in grace (new testament) because of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. The law commands, grace supplies. The grace, you are forgiven, you are loved by God. God sees you as perfect through Jesus. I have to give thanks to my pastor, Joseph Prince of the New Creation Church Singapore for constantly reminding me that we are in grace.

You see, human actions can only fall into 2 categories, either love or fear. Love comes from our Heavenly Father. Fear comes from the enemy. I believe our God is love. And God loves you, God is for you and not against. Are you ready to welcome God in your life, no matter what sexuality you are or who you are? Possibly you too have been told that you don’t deserve God, possibly you have secretly told yourself that. Let me tell you that, “You deserve God and you deserve love!” Choose love, choose God.
